Our task was to recreate a music video accurately as we
could. The music video we were given to recreate was by ‘Missy Higgins
Everyone’s Waiting’.
The sequence had to be a total of 12 seconds, 27 seconds
into the original music video.
Problems
It was very difficult to recreate the video exactly as we
had to do at school and so the locations weren’t matched as ‘Everyone’s
Waiting’ was filmed in beach settings.
Also although we had access to a tripod we weren’t able to use it as we
didn’t have anything to attach to the camera and tripod. This resulted in our
camera work being quite fast and shaky.
Another problem we had was the lip syncing didn’t match the
music, in the first 5 seconds or so no words matched and we tried to cut the
video and slow it down but this did not have any other effect.
The weather was also very warm and sunny and this did not
match the atmosphere we needed, as Missy Higgin's video was very gloomy and
although there was no direct lighting it was still very light.
Improvements
To improve I would make sure that we have access to a
working tripod, and if we are able to film elsewhere, we should take that
opportunity and find a location similar to the one used in the everyone’s waiting.
The weather could not be helped but in situations where we have extra time we
can reschedule to when weather is forecast with similar conditions.
